A Journey to UNESCO Terraced Paddy Fields at Jatiluwih

3rd Party Excursions

Embark on an epic adventure into the heart and soul of mystical Bali as you explore authentic villages and some of the island's most picturesque landscapes in a legendary Land Rover Defender or Land Cruiser. Equipped with a picnic basket filled with refreshing treats, you'll journey off the beaten path, away from main roads and busy highways and onto back roads, passing through authentic villages. Your first stop is a natural stone quarry where villagers have been cutting stone from a dry riverbed for generations. From there, continue to an agricultural village and experience the aroma of freshly roasted Balinese coffee and taste traditional Balinese snacks, made fresh for you. Learn how to make "canang" the most important element in Balinese temple offerings and take an optional 30-minute trek through the rice fields. Your adventure continues with a thrilling drive high into the mountains, through the UNESCO-recognized rice terraces of Jatiluwih. Indulge in a sumptuous Balinese lunch, served in a restaurant, surrounded by giant bamboo rainforest on the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Sip on a glass of wine, beer, tea or Balinese coffee in the glorious open-air canopy. Learn to play one of Balinese traditional musical instrument "rindik" or just leave it to the experts and enjoy the music. You'll also visit the Batukaru temple, a unique and sacred mountain sanctuary and the royal temple of the Tabanan dynasty, founded in the 11th century by a great Hindu sage. This is your chance to pray with the "canang" you made, as an offering to the gods, before returning back to your hotel.
